Eric
M. "Rick" Ellsley
was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 2, 1973. In 1995, he obtained
his Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from the University
of Florida. While there he was honored as a Phi Beta Kappa and
was inducted into Florida Blue Key, a prestigious leadership
society. Rick has been certified by the Florida Bar as a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer.
In 1998, Rick earned his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from
the University of Florida College of Law. While in law school,
he served as the President of the Jewish Law Students Association
and was a member of Phi Delta Phi National Legal Honor Society.
Following
law school, Rick began practicing law with a well-respected civil
trial firm in Miami. During this time, he gained valuable
trial experience representing clients who were victims of automobile
and aviation accidents, insurance bad faith, maritime incidents,
medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, dangerous products, and
wrongful death.
Rick
joined Krupnick Campbell Malone Buser Slama Hancock Liberman & McKee
in 2002, and was named a partner with the Firm in 2007. Since
coming to the Firm, Rick has had continued success in the above-mentioned
practice areas and has expanded his experience into the area of
domestic and international corporate and securities fraud litigation.
Rick is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, the District
of Columbia, the United States District Court for the Southern
District of Florida, and the Supreme Court of the United States
of America. He serves on the Executive Board of the Broward County
Trial Lawyers Association and on the Florida Justice Association's
Nursing Home Legislative Task Force. He is a member of the American
Association for Justice, the Broward Bar Association, the Dade
County Bar Association, and the B'nai Brith Justice Unit.
Additionally, Rick has been an invited guest lecturer of Nova
Southeastern University Law Center, speaking on the topic of invasion
of privacy, and at the Dade County Bar Association Young Lawyers
Section on medical malpractice. He is co-author of an article on
medical malpractice in the emergency room that was featured in
materials utilized for a Continuing Legal Education course. Rick
has been an invited guest speaker at the annual Auto Negligence
Seminar sponsored by the Florida Justice Association, where he
lectured on the topic of maximizing damages in automobile injury
cases. He served as a faculty instructor for the 2006 Florida Regional
Trial Skills Program CLE course sponsored by the National Institute
of Trial Advocacy and held at Nova Southeastern University Law
Center.
Rick
has been a contributing author on legal issues involving nursing
home residents' rights for national and local publications. He
was interviewed for the documentary "Beauty Under the Knife" which
aired on the Arts & Entertainment Network's program "Investigative
Reports".
He is actively involved in the community. He serves on the Community
Relations Committee of the United Jewish Community of Broward County.
Since graduating from law school, he has enjoyed serving on the
University of Florida College of Law Alumni Council.
Rick resides in Weston and enjoys spending time with his wife,
Dr. Tara Ellsley, a French Teacher and Student Activities Coordinator
at the University School of NSU, and with his young son, Nathan. |
