Sean
F. Thompson was born on November 2, 1975, in Bronx, New York,
and moved with his family to South Florida in 1977. He attended
Bucknell University in Pennsylvania on a football scholarship;
receiving Patriot League honors as a scholar athlete and helping
his team win the Patriot League Championship. In 1998 he
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in both English
and Spanish.
Sean
obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 2004 from Nova Southeastern
University, Shepard Broad Law Center. While at Nova, Sean
worked as a law clerk with the firm and was a staff member of the
Nova Law Review. He was also an extremely active member of Nova's
Moot Court Honor Society as well as a member of the Black Law Students
Association. Sean competed in many Moot Court competitions
and received awards throughout the country for National Best Oralist,
Best Brief and Best Team. He subsequently was selected as
a National Member of the Order of Barristers.
During
his final year of law school, Sean worked as a Certified Legal
Intern for the Public Defender's Office in the Seventeenth Judicial
Circuit of Broward County with the Juvenile Division. While
with the Public Defender's Office he argued numerous bench trials
and was poised to begin a career as an Assistant Public Defender
with their office. However, after obtaining his law degree, he
was offered an associate position in the medical malpractice and
complex litigation division of the firm. Sean currently litigates
cases in the area of medical malpractice, wrongful death, product
liability, nursing home, personal injury and general negligence.
Sean
is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts, the
United States District Court for the southern District of Florida,
and the United States District Court for the Middle District
of Florida. Sean is also actively involved
as a member of the American Association for Justice, the Florida
Justice Association and the Broward County Trial Lawyers Association.
Additionally,
Sean speaks to many groups on law school acceptance, legal research
and writing, bar exam preparation, medical malpractice and electronic
discovery. Sean annually
coaches the mock trial and/or moot court teams for the Nova Southeastern
University, Shepard Broad Law Center. |
