The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers recently created the annual "Guardian of Justice" Award in honor of Jon E. Krupnick, our founding partner, for his "incredible tenacity and perseverance in the pursuit of justice." Jon was the first recipient of the award, which was presented at the annual convention of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers.

This award honored Jon for the fifteen years he spend pursuing justice for four-year-old Alexis Smith, whose evening stroll with her mother ended tragically when a careless driver struck her. As a result of the accident, Alexis suffered brain damage and orthopedic injuries. Jon spent almost fifteen years - and tried the case a few times - before it settled for a significant confidential amount in March. Although the victory came fifteen years later, Krupnick was esteemed among his peers because of his absolute conviction that if he simply waited long enough and did everything he could possibly do, he would somehow find a way to right this wrong.

As a tribute to honor Jon for his perseverance in the pursuit of justice, he was presented with this namesake award which stated, "presented by the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers to Jon E, Krupnick, whose tenacity and legal acumen have enabled him to achieve the goal of professional excellence. His perseverance and relentless pursuit of justice have proven that it is to the one who endures that the final victory comes'."

"Jon Krupnick is one of the great guardians of law", says Scott Carruthers, Executive Director of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, in paying tribute to Krupnick. "In case after case, Jon has had the patience and the fortitude needed to defend those unable to defend themselves. He represents what is best in our profession. His relentlessness in the pursuit of justice for Alexis and others like her is the hallmark of his career."
