Environmental Disasters in Florida
When the fungicide Benlate® caused damage to farms throughout the world, our firm represented hundreds of farmers from Florida, Hawaii, Central America, the Caribbean, and Fiji.
Lawsuits concerning toxic torts and environmental damages are uniquely challenging for any law firm because they involve complex scientific issues and frequently require a firm to take on some of the largest companies in the world as opponents. Few law firms have both the personnel and the economic resources to challenge these industrial giants in the courtroom.
In taking on many of these cases, large and small, our firm has assembled a team of exceptional lawyers with impeccable legal credentials combined with scientific backgrounds in highly specialized fields such as chemistry and horticulture. Our trial teams have battled multinational corporations around the world, obtaining record settlements.
One such case involved the global chemical conglomerate E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, Inc.
When the fungicide Benlate® caused damage to farms throughout the world, our firm represented hundreds of farmers from Florida, Hawaii, Central America, the Caribbean, and Fiji. After filing more than half of the total number of lawsuits worldwide against DuPont in the Benlate® matter, and taking two cases through nearly six months of trial, we obtained substantial settlements for our clients.
We have substantial experience representing clients who have sustained injury to both person and property from dangerous exposure to toxins, biological agents, or chemicals. Our firm constantly seeks an innovative approach to our cases. We pioneered the practice of giving substantial research grants to major universities in order to obtain the highest quality research and scientific evidence for the courtroom, as well as furthering the body of knowledge of pollution and toxic chemicals.
